Experience Matters

Kerry Haselton

Kerry Haselton was born in Morristown, raised in New Vernon, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University. She has two grown daughters who attended Borough schools. Having lived in the borough for 30 years, Kerry relishes the opportunity to serve her community as a voice for the environment and quality of life outdoors for residents of all ages. She is a proponent of downtown revitalization and redevelopment, which should be accomplished while preserving the history and small town feel that make Bernardsville a wonderful home base. Kerry firmly believes in the importance of protecting water quality and well heads as development occurs and she supports the development of greenways connecting natural areas and parks.

Kerry is a member of the Raritan Headwaters Association Board of Directors, the Somerset County Open Space Advisory Committee and the Bernardsville Environmental Commission, where she is also an advisor. She is a member of the Mayor's Trails Committee and is an avid hiker, cyclist, and birdwatcher who will work to enhance and expand opportunities for passive recreation.

As a long-time coach for the Somerset Hills Soccer Club and a 17-year veteran player of competitive senior soccer, Kerry understands the value of team sports throughout our lives and will advocate for safe play spaces and enhancements at Borough parks. She was an active member of the steering committee that guided the
recent Recreation and Open Space Master Plan and will work to see the stated priorities of the community are
implemented. Kerry is also an enthusiastic coach for the Recreation Department's Girls in Gear program.
Kerry is very active in her community. She has volunteered as an ESL tutor at the Library, served on the committee which built the turf field at Bernards High, and worked on the task force which reduced class sizes for Bedwell Kindergarteners. She formed and led a coalition of residents that successfully lobbied the NJ Department of Transportation to reduce the size of a replacement bridge on Route 202 and to cover it with native stone. Most recently, she spearheaded the creation of the Class of 2020 Garden.

Kerry worked for Prudential as an Associate Manager where she  was responsible for budgeting and physician/executive interface in NY and CT HMO operations. She later worked as a Physical Therapy Aide, treating patients with gait and balance disorders.
