Daniel Woods
Meet Daniel Woods — A Neighbor Who Will Stand Up for Bernardsville
Daniel Woods has been a proud resident of Bernardsville for the past ten years. A dedicated father of three and a committed member of the community, Daniel is now stepping forward to serve on the borough council — not as a politician, but as a neighbor who cares deeply about the future of the town he calls home.
Daniel’s goal is clear: to preserve the charm and character that make Bernardsville special, while supporting thoughtful, responsible growth. His decision to run is rooted in a strong belief that residents deserve transparency, fairness, and leadership that puts the community first.
One issue that propelled Daniel into action was the Palmer Project — a deal he believes was deeply flawed. The project handed valuable development rights to an insider, allowing for a large apartment complex at the town’s busiest intersection, all while granting a thirty-year PILOT (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes) that bypasses support for our schools and shifts the burden to taxpayers. Daniel sees this not as smart planning, but as a giveaway that puts profits over people.
And the Palmer Project isn’t the only concern. Several other developments are moving forward — some quietly — and Daniel believes they demand real oversight. If elected, he is committed to keeping sweetheart deals off the table, opposing unnecessary tax abatements, and rejecting any backroom dealings with developers. His approach is grounded in critical thinking, accountability, and a deep respect for the public trust.
As an attorney, Daniel brings a practical, solutions-oriented mindset to other important challenges — from updating aging water infrastructure to ensuring Bernardsville meets its affordable housing obligations without compromising its integrity.

With three kids at home, Daniel knows what it means to have hard conversations and make difficult decisions. He’s not afraid to ask tough questions or push back when something doesn’t add up. He believes the residents of Bernardsville deserve that kind of leadership — honest, independent, and unafraid to say “no” when developers seek to take advantage.
Daniel Woods is ready to be a strong, principled voice for Bernardsville. He’s asking for your trust — and your vote — to help protect what makes this town a wonderful place to live.
