Did You Know???
If you are a Democrat, but have not registered to vote, or if you have registered to vote as "unaffiliated", but have not declared your affiliation by voting in a Democratic Primary, you are not listed on the official voter registration list as a Democrat. In sending out our Democratic Party mailings, we use the voter registration lists. If you are not listed as a Democrat, you are not included in our database. If you have not received any of our mailings please contact us so we can include you in our database. To register to vote, see the Voter Registration information below or click on the "contact us" link and we will get the forms to you.

1. Voter Registration
Who can register:
To register in New Jersey you must be:
A U.S. citizen
At least 18 years old on or before the next election
Residing at your present address for at least 30 days
You are not eligible to register or vote if you are on parole or probation, or if you are serving a prison sentence for violating state or federal law.
Registration forms can be obtained from the Somerset County Board of Elections and the Municipal Clerk's office at Bernardsville Borough Hall. You can also print a form from the Somerset County board of elections website http://www.co.somerset.nj.us/voting_in_new_jersey.htm
and after entering the required information sign and mail it to the Board of Elections address above.

2. Civilian Absentee Ballot Application Instructions
Absentee ballot application forms can be obtained at the Office of the Somerset County Clerk and at the Municipal Clerk's Office at Bernardsville Borough Hall. If you would like an absentee ballot application form delivered to you, click on the contact us link above.
Forms are available on line at http://www.co.somerset.nj.us/absentee.htm
Mail requests for an absentee ballot must be
postmarked no later than seven (7)
days prior to the election for which they are
being requested. Registered voters may
apply in person for an absentee ballot up
until 3 p.m. the day before the election.

Simple steps to voting
Enter booth. Upon entering the overhead booth, light will be lit, as will the contest headers (the flashing green arrows next to each contest or office title).
Select candidate(s) by touching the box inside the block in which the name of the candidate(s) of your choice appears.
Be sure to vote entire ballot, making all desired selections. When finished, do not forget to press the orange "cast vote" button and exit the booth.
Important!
Do not press "cast vote" button until you are finished making all selections.
Casting a personal choice (write-in) vote:
To cast a vote for someone whose name does not appear on the ballot, you must:
Touch the box inside the "Personal Choice" block, which follows the last candidate in any office or contest.
Type in the name of your candidate of choice, using the "write-in" keyboard located below the ballot. Then press enter.
After pressing enter button and after all selections are made, you must press the orange "cast vote" button.
